Saying Goodbye.....

I know it's not a very encouraging post but Our blogs are much like public journals, weds I took my sweet Smokey to the vet, he was 14 (we have had him 5 years) and in much pain due to so many ailments , I couldnt stand to see him suffer any longer. I spent the day feeding him , ( people food)bathing him, and just letting him stay in the house where he loved to be, around me. Which made it hard to take him to the vet and actually end his life. It was best for him but as humans we do everything we can to live longer and help our pets to live long and healthy, not batting an eye when we have to spend the whole months mortgage to save our Ferrets life, thats another story, yes a heartbreaker....... Smokey started to go down hill fast, I only wish we would have found him before he had heartworms, and before his arthritis . He would probly go on another 3 or 4 years, his spirit was as if he were a puppy, but a puppy in pain... So for all who have lost a dear sweet companion I'm sorry for us who unlike our little friends, have to be sad for their loss.... I hope it's a long time before I have to go thru this with my little dog mini, I cant stress enough, Heartworm meds!! It wont help them live forever but it will give us more time with our sweet companions.....

I found this saying that is so sweet ...and is very true......If there ever comes a day when we can't be together keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever”Winnie the pooh........I found this on The pink gate blogspot , a very inspirational blog

Kimberly - Stopped by from Sandy's blog and read about your sweet little dog. I'm sorry that you had to make that tough decision. A dear friend of mine sent me a wonderful poem about our Doggies and if you would like to read it, go to my Feb 17, 08, post. It's rather long to put in a comment. Get your tissues ready! I lost my 13 yr old Pom a year ago and another little baby one in Feb. You're in my thoughts - Vickie

Ok, Kimberly, if I can see through these tears, I will comment. I don't know if you read any of my older posts, but my doggie, my best friend of 17 yrs. passed on April 1st. I don't know what kind of doggie he was, but his photo looks like my little pookie's face & coloring. I haven't been able to look at a photo, let alone post one. My heart goes out to you. My own family is still heart broken that she's gone. I know they can't live forever, but it's so hard to lose them. I hope you take comfort in knowing you gave him a good life. Gloria

I am so sorry for your loss. I understand because I had to go through the same decision this past March. One of the darkest periods in our family's life. We had Buffy 16 years and he was a family member. I certainly hope you have mini a long time! Twyla

Kimberly, I am so sorry to hear about your little angel. I bet he had the best life among your pretty things and was adored every day. I lost mine this year too after 15 years. I still think of her everyday and cry at certain songs, but know they are never really far away. I felt like my blog was a strange place to mention it too but the blog love I got really helped me through it.

As I sit here typing with my studio buddy on my lap (and yes it does make it difficult to type with a dog between you and the keyboard), a tear rolls down my cheek at the heartbreaking loss of your beautiful Smokey.

If more people had some of the attributes of our canine friends the world woud be a better place.

I'm giving my Gypsy a big hug and then I am checking her medication chart. Thank you for the reminder Kimberley.
Hugs,
Kerryanne

Awww.Im so so sorry about your sweet Smokey. Losing our pets is one of the hardest losses to deal with. I just lost my dog of 16 years about 2 months ago, and my Mom just lost her 10 year old golden retriever to cancer 3 days ago. It's incredibly sad to lose our fur babies. My heart goes out to you!!!
