Summer painting !

Hello sweet reader, thanks for stopping by :) Your always welcome. This summer I have taken my brush a travilin a true gypsy painter :) My first stop was in mount Dora, Karen's Kozy Kottage! I painted her a lovely sign for her new summer place, along with some furniture...I spent the day in quited in that quaint little town I love.....the second stop was another of my most favorite places, St. Augustine Fl, the home of my customer and now sweet buddy Michelle. She had a fab idea of painting her closet doors in a royal Marie Antoinette fashion. The duke & duchess as their friends call them. I think the doors came out lovely....though a challenge standing up painting for hours, I did manage to take a break and eat dinner! Michelle is a fabulous cook! Another project was sent to me, 2 huge ,giant,humongous mirrors!!! Did I say they were huge? I finished one and its now ready to ship yay!! Beautiful french mirror with tons of roses. Now on to the larger one whew! Another project was painting some beautiful ceiling tins my father made. Sooo lovely . Besides that we are getting our second summer line ready to list on Paris Rags.com What a busy summer....but productive :) Till next time!! Hugs to you all, love, Kimberly

Ceiling tin art

Its been so long since my last post here! Don't you hate it when you keep checking your favorite blogs and they are still the same from the last month! Anyway, glad to visit with you all, today's post is actually not about my art but my Dad's art. He told me he was doing a few ceiling tin pieces and wanted to show them to me, well I about died when I saw how beautiful and unique they were. He took them to show last month , they are amazing, shelves, hooks, hand carved mirrors, the prettiest colors you have ever seen. He is a color mixing expert as he repairs leather in boats, planes ,cars etc. A great eye for mixing colors. I love painting, it has been my work now since 1999 , I will always love to paint, though sometimes you need a change. My other love , Vintage textiles, lace, old tattered fabrics. I love creating beautiful things out of old worn pieces. Have you stopped by my Paris Rags? You will understand why I haven't posted too much on this blog! I wish I had more time to do both full time but , it's impossible....Here are some items I made from our recent show and other items in my Etsy boutique. As the economy changes our priorities change in what we purchase. I find women will buy something beautiful to adorn themselves more than they would buy a painting for their home. I have also found that the things I make that women wear touch their heart , it becomes sentimental when it touches the skin and makes them feel beautiful. My heart flutters each time a customer emails gushing over a piece that they purchased, it means so much to me and feeds my burning desire to create something special for someone. This is a sweet shelf I just finished ...it's so sweet I love it. My husband made the shelf from my sketches of an old 1800's shelf I fell in love with. Were busy getting ready for our Mount Dora Extravaganza, this time we will have much more than last year I'm exited mainly to set up and soon as 10 am strikes I'm on the field hunting for treasures while hubby mans the Tent LOL! AFTER!!! I had so much fun with the different shades of blue, and did a Verdigris patina on the scroll work and crevices , the sweet little birds nest is divine I love it! Here is a lovley vintage italian box I dedicated to Queen Marie, it came out so pretty! I hate painting over the antique gold patina's so this was fitting for a Marie piece. It's amazing how her lifestyle inspired so many beautiful creations. I recently saw an amazing fan created with Marie images, i'll have to find it again, just crazy beautiful. Hi there! Been a while since my last post, life is so whirlwind isn't it? I managed to finish some projects as seen in the photos, a Cottage bench, wash stand, and vintage pillar column. They all came out so pretty! Other than painting, just sewing, cleaning and some home improvements, as always. I did get a new cell phone this week a razr, I wanted a blackberry but at 500 that was out of my budget range, but the razr is great too, I can get my email and go web surfing, I'm so happy about that! As they say your Always Connected ! That's me now, I guess....I had grand plans of finishing my book this summer but I'm only one woman so not sure when exactly. We have plans for a DVD ( Learning how to paint roses) Part of a book and DVD collection, Paint your "Art" Out ! My new book Title is Embellish Your "Art" Out! The DVD is nerve racking since I'm not a fan of being on camera, Yikes. I'm not teaching one stroke, but my different techniques I've learned after 12 years of oil painting. These projects will be finished soon, I'm hopeful....Since I home school I have to work around that schedule , Micayla is now in 6Th grade, so lots of science projects this year. I always look forward to the weekend, this weekend we are having a yard sale, time to get rid of the clutter, I don't have too much clutter just enough to drive you crazy, or me crazy, I've gotten a little neurotic in my young age of 42 well almost 42 June 30Th. Here are a few things I have been working on. I love the lilacs painting and the little cottage painting. So sweet..... Wish me luck at the yard sale, should be fun though it's so hot here in Jacksonville you can hardly breath in the heat of the day. I picked up my new issue of Romantic Country magazine today it's just full of beauty.... perhaps the best magazine issue ever, home after home wow, usually the other magazines just shoot the same home or shop time after time, it gets boring,I'm so happy Romantic Country has Ms . Fifi, she is very talented, great style and seems so sweet to boot! She's making these Metal primitive hearts customized , which I will get one of , when she has more time, which is very rare I'm sure, still thinking of what I want mine to say, they are adorable, I cant imagine they are easy to make either! Lately I have been consumed with our new little venture ParisRags.....I haven't painted much....I suddenly had the desire to paint! So here are a few pretties and some mosaic work i did, another craft I love, it's so relaxing you can't imagine! I finished three pieces in one night with the exception of grouting and sealing them. I've added so many things to the website, little treasures I've treasured for a while and new found pretties. I only wish I could stick with one art form, and be really great at it. I seem to have so many crafts up in the air....I have two antique Boothe's here in Jacksonville 2 websites, ebay auctions, Etsy shop and sell a few things here and there on Craigslist! I love finding old treasures, isn't this vintage blue lace bed jacket amazing! The ribbon and lace are so romantic.I finally found a use for a beautiful French lace doily I had, I attached to my boudoir dress form, I dress her up all the time, a giant Barbie lol I never grew out of the Barbie doll stage. Have you seen such a gorgeous antique hand painted vase? I was in awe the day I found this, the roses are Perfection.....lastly, a little mini dress form that I just finished for the website, I made a dress out of antique lace and a ruffle slip. She came out so pretty I want to keep her! Well those are my little treasures , made and found. Nothing earth shattering just for fun, have a wonderful weekend! Kimberly

Been a while since my last post! Busy, tired, blah...I guess we all feel that way sometimes... Like my new background! Isnt it beautiful, click the little banner top left for lots of them to choose from, she does an awesome job, I added a super beauty to my Paris Rags blog too!! My Mom was here visiting us for a few weeks and it was fun, hated to see her leave especially since my little one went back with her! Snif snif..... Anyway , I made her a pretty over the top lace cuff seen here in the first pic.....she has been wanting one to photograph her antique filigree rings. It's a nice touch. She has some amazing antique Filigree 14 wt gold rings and treasures up now for incredibly low prices. Take a peek HERE .

Flea Market Fun!

Janet aka Shabbyfufu stopped by for a visit. It was so nice to meet her after all these years!

We arrived home last Sunday evening from our first Mount Dora Extravaganza selling trip. The first night we arrived it was freezing! This is Fl we are always sweating and complaining that it never gets cold:) It was all so funny after you look back... Out in the cold almost nightfall trying to set up this 10x20 tent just out of the box in the freezing cold! My daughter stayed in the car all warm and cozy while she watched us set up, better than comedy tv! We finally got it set up now time to set up camp with a kerosene heater my husband brought, wow those things get hot, but thank goodness since we thought it might be nice to camp with our stuff for the first night, not realizing it would be that cold. Then we get the air bed out and realized the pump need batteries, oh my....so my mcgyver husband rigged up his drill battery to the pump and we finally had our mattress! Eating dinner was great fun too, NOT popping lots of cans of ravioli and cooking them on the heater, it really works! The next day was fun filled with cold wind blowing the tent down lol I'll spare you the details...Saturday was a great sunny but cool day,,,,we sold lots and someone actually bought my dress form which wasn't for sale, with ALL my clothing , bag, jewelry and hat! He made me an offer I couldn't refuse lol Lots of work went into getting there, I painted till I couldn't for sure. We met allot of great people that were set up next to us all around. A screenwriter who writes while his wife sells her goods, Katrina who has amazing style, she has a shop in Michigan called Paris . On our right we met Kathy and her sweet hubby, Kathy is so talented we discovered, she makes these amazing bags , she loves the 40's and it shows! These bags were made so well,,, each stitch was perfect. Very creative and fun, I know shop owners out there would love to get their hands on them. She makes them out of vinyl , fabric and fabric transfers. The handles are lucite looking and some are a bamboo....very cool ! We might be back at the end of February not sure, still recovering from the last trip! Paris Rags did so well, I'm exited to open the website, I'm back to sewing and getting ready for the opening.... seems like deppresion chic is the in thing now! Are You a Gypsy Queen of Paris ??

I'm in such a parisian mood these days, you know me always thinking , trying out new ways to use my creativity, now I'm dreaming of Gypsy Parisian ellements to sew! Is there even a Gypsy PArisian? Well, maybe I just made her up, Something like if Marie Antoinette hadnt been executed but just put out of her home with nothing but her old clothes and she had to sew them all together to create some kind of fashion? Sound silly? I'm silly I know but crazy as it may be I have been sewing all maries Rags, thus the new website name PARIS RAGS, I'm having a blast for now, havent made much money yet thats the downer but maybe it will catch on....This january 16-19 we will have our first tent shop at the Mount Dora Extravaganza, I hope some of you will be able to come!! So far I have bags, clothes, Rag Bands, pillows and some odds n ends I'm offering....Along with all my hand painted roses, furniture, artwork....needless to say, I'm a painting sewing crazy fool~ Anyway, Hope you will visit my new blog here . This Lady in the roses pretty much expresses how I feel about those shoes:) The photo is from my friend Judy's new blog FRENCH LAUNDRY go say hi!

These are my antique lace Journals, made with my coveted antique paper doilies! Then embellished them....so romantic... they are on my website if anyone has to have one.....they are so beautiful, even the inside has a special surprise!

This victorian bride was so much fun to make, I had to stop before I covered the whole thing with embellishments! She is also for sale, though I hate to part with her, the frame is antique. For anyone interested we will have a beautiful full booth at the Mount Dora Antiques Extravaganza January 14-16, its near Orlando Fl.....Beautiful historical town. My covered shop will be packed full of hand painted furniture, art and tons of other pretties! So I will be busy painting till then, I'll post photos of all the treasures! Blessings to all, Kimberly

Whirlwind days

I dont know about you but boy the days go by so fast, I dont seem to have time for anything but work and of course home schooling. I'm a Flickr addict I think lol . I have been posting most of my new work to Flickr I forget that alot of you might not go there! So I'll post some of the things I have been working on or are now up for sale. I get into different moods of art, sometimes I can paint till I drop, then I turn to embellishing, which my book is about, hopefully it will be finished end of this coming summer, it's just too much to work on it all the time and still work and school, etc. This summer I can get down to business.... Then I get in my sewing moods, which I am into right now, I love vintage Gypsy style clothing, and accesories, I'v been on the hunt for old lace to shred up :) I recently sold some of my work to singer, actress,fashionista Courtney Love, after I saw what she was buying on Etsy I was really inspired to do more sewing, she really has termendous style for beautiful antique inspired clothes. I never would have guessed. Very sweet too. Anyway , I love creating vintage inspired wareable art, jewelry you get it right. I have listed tons of my new things on etsy, so many incredible artists , you'll have to click on my favorites to see some of the items, wow....... I'll add the Link here to my Etsy page, let me know what you think. I go back and forth with my crazy ideas hopeing one day I'll make something everyone has to have!! Calling All Embellishers! Book Deal!

Hi Eveyone! I'm not talking about the little white lies or storytellers, I'm talking about those beautiful artists out there who create the most divine objects! Paper art, Crowns, journals, canvas art, crafts, clothing art, anything you can embellish with a glue gun, glue, sew, you get the idea! I'm looking for all such Artists who would like to be in my new BOOK! Yippee, this is so much fun, lots of work on my part as well as a little work on your parts to send me un -sized photos of your work. Your photos will be fully protected and credit given for the art and photography. The book will contain your shop or blog to where the readers can purchase such art. You will need to email that info along with your photo. Well, it's going to be lots of work but in the end well have a gorgeous book everyone will want to have! Some of the pages will contain how too projects, where to find products, and beautiful color photos of the art in our home, settings or staged setting. I hope you all will pass this around, I'll be visiting many blogs inviting you all to come over too.... I can't mention the Title yet, soon I hope! This book will be sold in all major bookstores and available on my website. Even if you think you may not be an artist, many of you don't give yourself enough credit for the sweet things you come up with ! This is my first time ever being tagged, gee I'v been feeling really left out :( But , then my sweet friend Sherry of Sherry's Rose Cottage came along and tagged me! Its always nice to be asked a few questions about who you are and what you like. I was so bummed out this weekend waiting and waiting for some beautiful photos to come out (that were asked for) in Country Victorian Magazine. I finally got my hands on the new issue and was so exited, but quickly going thru page after page and there were no photos! Well, needless to say it was a bummer! My consolation prize was at least my friend Cathy Scalise is in the magazine and she has one of my TEA & SWEETS displayed in her kitchen photo! It looks so sweet. Thank you all for your kind notes regarding my "Smokey" he surely is missed around here.....it helps knowing I wasnt alone in making that call..... Well, on another note here is what I have been up too....painting of course.... here is a pretty antique table I painted all free hand, even the scrolls....I love how it came out. I plan on doing more furniture soon. On another note I was so thrilled to visit Chris' (Tutti Chic) blog, she has a link to Rachael Ashwells new blog! I was so thrilled, I think it all started when I first picked up a Shabby Chic book, I looked at all the scuffed beautiful architectural elements, white sofa,fluffy squishy pillows mixed with beautiful crystal chandeliers ,oil paintings of roses and knew thats what I loved ! I still have my book and bought her second. Ohh the cable show on style really did it for me.....watching Christie Repasy give a demonstration of her oil painted roses, thats when I knew I was going to paint roses ! When you think of it , all our blogs really were inspired of her style one way or another, wouldnt it be neat to have that type of influence on a huge number of people! Saying Goodbye.....

I know it's not a very encouraging post but Our blogs are much like public journals, weds I took my sweet Smokey to the vet, he was 14 (we have had him 5 years) and in much pain due to so many ailments , I couldnt stand to see him suffer any longer. I spent the day feeding him , ( people food)bathing him, and just letting him stay in the house where he loved to be, around me. Which made it hard to take him to the vet and actually end his life. It was best for him but as humans we do everything we can to live longer and help our pets to live long and healthy, not batting an eye when we have to spend the whole months mortgage to save our Ferrets life, thats another story, yes a heartbreaker....... Smokey started to go down hill fast, I only wish we would have found him before he had heartworms, and before his arthritis . He would probly go on another 3 or 4 years, his spirit was as if he were a puppy, but a puppy in pain... So for all who have lost a dear sweet companion I'm sorry for us who unlike our little friends, have to be sad for their loss.... I hope it's a long time before I have to go thru this with my little dog mini, I cant stress enough, Heartworm meds!! It wont help them live forever but it will give us more time with our sweet companions.....

Today was great, I finally finished quite a few projects one being a Marie Antoinette Treasure box, this was so much fun, loved distressing the box and adding beautiful treasures to the frame along with hand painted roses and scrolls...The spoons are super cool, I've seen them with just flowers but thought, well silver spoon, Marie Antoinette, don't they go together?? They are whimsical.....The bottles are so fun and sweet, and of course my little miniature oil painting of a basket of Roses my husband framed for me with some old gesso pieces, I adore it! Here they are for all the up close pics. Tonight was great! My sweet my space friend Jennifer actually won DESIGN STAR!! Way to go Jen!!! She is so talented and incorporates her art work into her room designs, shes so brave to actually free had designs on walls, Yikes, I'm so happy for you Jen, cant wait to see her new show. Sweet Trellis Floorcloth rug

I love making these floor cloth rugs. This is a smaller one with a trellis design on pink with sage border. There are so many links on Google to make a floor cloth, but I just had to try a few out to get it right. One of my customers ordered this one in a 96x31 runner, talk about time consuming! The thing I love about them, they last and last! One of my problems with regular rugs are they get dirty and it cost a fortune to have them cleaned, i usually just toss them out it didn't cost allot. With the floor cloth rugs, you can mop them and with all the sealer coats it protects the design . This little one is on my eBay for now, I'm working on getting all the new designs on the website. Besides keeping up with my Design Star episodes on Sunday night, I have been painting a lot and trying to come up with new ideas for my art. This one I credit my husband with! The top image is a distressed moulding frame in pinks, then my husband cut a sheet metal piece and applied enamel paint. Voila! A magnet memo board. They come with my clothespin magnets, this is such a sweet idea love them. The bottom photo is an antique frame painted white then I applied a pearl pink glaze paint to the raised accents, the metal panel is painted a flesh pale pink enamel spray, then I hand painted roses at top and bottom corners. If you don't paint, some rose decals would look pretty too. They are so much fun to create . I'm working on more creative ideas to post soon, hope you all are having a fun summer! Hugs,Kimberly

Seems I have been away for a while, well, since I finally got the dish network, I have been quite the hgtv geek. Design to sell is the best ever. I think I am a pro at home staging now! Anyone want to hire me :) So far I have helped hubby re-stain all of our kitchen cabinets, paint, redo our guest room and I made a huge king size tuffted headboard! I even took on the task of removing popcorn ceiling from the guest room before I painted, whew, what a job, but it is sooo worth it, it looks so much better i'll say.Those shows are just so inspirational. I'll have to come back later with photos, but, sorry none have anything to do with roses or shabby chic. You may be surprised at my color choices but they are very pleasing to the eye , calming and elegant. Here are a few photos of some pretties I worked on. New Place mats !Not your normal Place mat :)

I was thrilled to find these pre-cut canvas place mats . These I painted a pale powder blue with huge roses in pinks with a border of Gold french scroll work. All hand painted. I'm offering them with pale pink, white and pale blue backgrounds. You can see them on my website. I think they are so pretty! I've been busy with re decorating our kitchen, hubby has been re- staining all the cabinets, what a job! But think of the moolah we will save. Keeping busy with homeschooling also, one more month till my daughter is evaluated by a teacher, I'm so nervous but she is so bright , I know she'll do well. This is our first year home schooling. I was a bit frantic yesterday when I received a notice from paypal, all of you who went thru that big mess last Sept know how it just consumed all our money and time, well, yet another customer has reported I hadn't sent two items, so therefore paypal has taken out a large sum of my money, bringing back some awful memories of last Sept. Thank goodness I have a delivery confirmation receipt. Hope full paypal will see in my favor, but still having your money taken without notice , money you need is so stressful even more now since this business is so very slow for allot of us. French Style Aubusson Floor Cloth Rugs

I'm so exited to preview my new Hand painted floor Cloth rugs. I love them , they are so durable and functional. I loved the idea that my art work would be functional not just hanging on a wall but actually have a purpose. After doing tons of research, my rugs are pet, spill and heavy traffice friendly! You can mop them with a mild detergent thanks to many layers of poly sealer.Needless to say these works of art are so time consuming, alot of prep work before you even get to start on the design. They lay flat on wood flooring and carpet as well. I hand painted al lthe roses and used beautiful scroll stencils for borders. I have tons of new designs coming soon. Since money is tight for everyone I thought it would be so nice to paint something we all need, rugs!! I'm a rug-A-holic I buy them and toss them out frequently after they get worn. The floor cloth will be around for a very long time!! Who could throw out a work of art! I have so many ideas for designs not only with roses but many different styles. This has to be the prettiest most Romantic Home I have ever seen! Annamarie Florio , a sweet customer and friend has kindly let me post photo's of her gorgeous home. She has such a romantic touch as you will see in all her photographs. I think she has talent for styling photos in magazines. She has some of my pretty collages that I custom made for her gorgeous antique frames. Annamarie loves a soft pale palet of pink and whites. These vignette photos are just stunning and pull at your romantic heartstrings. Annamarie's home was featured a few years back in Country Living but has since updated and these photos will be featured in the Country Living blog. Many of you know I love to re-use old furniture , transform it for another life. I hate tossing out things I think that could be re- purposed. Though I am good at that, I think I do need to work on being more Green wise when it comes to the earth. I love all the Green tips Carter Oosterhouse has on his website CarterOsterhouse.com as well as his show Carter Can on hgtv. One of which is very interesting, did you know that when your tv etc is turned off, it still draws power? All you have to do it unplug your appliances and it will save energy and money! Thats just one tip of hundreds ! MY friend Robin @Paris Bebe fabrics inspired todays post, mentioning that today is turn off your lights for one hour in your house between 8 pm and 9pm Tonight , seems this will happen around the world! Is Pink my Color?

Hi everyone, I have been getting alot of emails regarding the new ShabbyRoseStudio look. I thought it was pretty cool but, alot of my customers think it looked better before? Well, I'm kind of worried, I'm thinking of changing back , the graphics at least, maybe it's just me, I'm changing alot in my old age of 40 getting close to 41. I'm starting to appreciate the value of simplicity, I'v been selling off furniture and stuff that once were pretty treasures now seem like clutter to me, like I cant breath. Maybe watching HGTV 24/7 doesnt help lol I love Candice Olson Divine design, shes one classy designer. Last night I wanted to pack up my paris suite and paint my focal wall chocolate and make a pale aqua damask tufted upholstered headboard! Though if it were just me in the bedroom, I'd head to target and buy all the pale pink n blue bedding from simply shabby chic, soooo dreamy, so I guess shabby chic is still in me, but I love a simple clean easy look, Anyway, back to the website..... New Website Up and Running!

Well, alot of hard work my hubby Stephen has put into our website the past month, I think it came out pretty. It's a bit more elegant, it was time for a little change. I love damask and elegant prints, the bow is so pretty too. I'm not one to keep things the same, I always need change, so maybe in a few years well change again! Take a peek at the new site HERE

On another note, let me tell you a funny story. Well , months ago, maybe a year? Hmmm not really sure but my friend Robin Mynatt owner of ParisBebe fabrics kindly let me use one of her fabrics for an ebay graphic banner , well, I used it then asked her lol. But I thought that was so sweet of her. I found out she collected old recipe boxes, so I painted her one, well it took me a long while to get my act together and finish it then send it! Too long I'm ashamed to say :( Anyway finally did it and I checked her blog today and voila! The pictures of it are on her recent post! Pretty Cottage Papers

Just about time for a little short post. I'v been working late nights trying to come up with the next batch of designs. Just finished the patterns for this new set pretty cottagroses. Clothespin Crazy & new Stationery designs

Well, here is a look at my new stationery designs. I hope they go over well with the company, the first ones are pretty too but I love this collection entitled "Antoinette" journals, file folders, scrapbook albums and so much more,well the bride album isn't part of it that was part of the first "Victoria collection" I think they are a nice change from all the whimsy cute stuff on the market now, I love it all but sometimes a touch of elegance is a nice change.Don't worry Pink is in the next batch of designs, even lavender! I also have ideas for teens and pre-teens with bright pinks ,purples, lime greens ,so much going on in my head it's about to explode, better go make some clothespin clips for some fun :)

A little Inspiration

One Bible verse that is truly Inspiring no mater what version of the bible you have is Psalms 119: 105 It reads " Your word is a Lamp to my foot, and a Light to my roadway" Some versions say pathway but anyway you put it, its just one of thousands of quotes of wisdom we were given by God to make our paths straight. On another note looks like Shabby Rose Studio is turning in a new direction " Stationery"(hence the bookmarks) using my graphic art in all kinds of venues , journals, scrapbooking, cards, bookmarks, albums , creative kits and so much more. We will soon be represented by a huge stationery company . I have been designing night and day so as to submit all of my themes and designs for distribution. Soon you will see a new look on my website, I'm so exited but a bit overwhelmed! The book marks are part of the collection, I'm rooting for them as they havent been accepted yet, let me know what you all think, are they a keeper? Not Life Altering ~ Just Cupcakes

This post may not be life altering, or blogging with a purpose, but just fun! I thought that was what blogging was all about? I know many bloggers out there are "telling their story" sharing their daily struggles, some loosing loved ones, coping with cancer, makes my cupcake post seem silly. Well, if you think it's silly all you have to do is click back to where you came from, no harm done :) I do get tired of people just posting what they sell, nothing wrong with that but I love to read about how people feel or what is going on in their lives, I'v always been curious about people, always gravitated twards bios instead of fiction, whats the point, it never happened! I know alot of movies were created by fiction, creative thinking persons, but just not what I like. So I give you my latest obsession! Voila! The Faux cupcake! I love them, I love making them ( after several trys with different mixes, trial and mostly error lol I figured it out!) Here are some I made and decorated, maybe over the top, who knows. I made a tray of them for my Mom, she loves them, she says she cant stopp looking at them:) Alot of artists make them, i think everyone has had a try at them, mine are a bit bling bling'ish but I love them! I put them up on my Etsy and Ebay and I have them on my website! I guess I'm proud of them. Well hope you enjoy the pics, maybe next post I will have something more blog worthy for you all! Back Home !

Well, were home! I have had to catch up on sleep from a short vacation :) No sleeping in one those cruise ships, so much to see and do. The shows were great, wish I had video taped them! The best part of the trip was ending up at Coco Cay , a little Island in the Bahamas, my husband spent his time sipping his Bahama Mama in a Hammock . The rough life, while I shopped around for a few goodies to bring home to my family. You will notice the breathtaking blue auqua water, it was stunning. I had to snap photos of our wait staf, they work 6 months straight on the ship, every day! Our waiter doesnt see his family for 6 mos! As soon as we left the ship they start over with another bunch of us tourists boarding the next day. We really enjoyed dinner each night, they were so sweet. The head waiter, Natalia, hamming it up in the photo below, she was so funny, and full of personality. Our waiter, Oliver was so sweet offering us 2 entres and lots of extras, since the food portions ar very tiny, but yummy :) It was a fun time, wish I could go back right now looking at all the photos. Youll notice a towel in the shape of a bunny, the cleaning lady made him and put my sun glasses on him! So cute. Well, I'm back to work! Talk soon, Kim

Architectural Romance & A new Blogger!

I wanted to take the time to Welcome another new blogger! Debi Coules , anyone who loves romantic roses art will know her, she has a blog now! Be sure to stop over and say hi, also, take a look at her beautiful art. If there were anyone I would consider my Competition it would be Debi ! I was thrilled that she let me make her beautiful blog banner, she was great to work with turning out a lovely romantic header.

My last visit to Sarasota, where my parents live, I stoped by the most Romantic spots I know, Sarasota Salvage, I know your thinking the most Romantic Place? When you walk into this place it just takes you back in time, though most everything is old , peeling chippy paint, musty, dusty, I can just picture in my head what certain objects looked like when they were in their prime, it gives you the chills! I can also picture what most treasures will look like after I paint them with roses, oh no Not the patina, almost never, just adding roses , a cottage scene, birds gives each piece new life to last for years. Here is an old Craftsman Home Porch post I just finished also added a Mosaic top, great for a plant stand, they would have put the house number on this chippy guy, heavy, peeling paint, full of rusty nails! Shawn , one of the Salvage guys said, what are you going to do with this old thing lol Well, if he could only see it now! I picked up a few treasures, a sweet old door with 4 mini glass paynes, cant wait to start on it. Then a few little what nots I will have to post later on, I love little treaures too. Hi Everyone! Just wanted to take a minute and Welcome my sweet friend Brook, a wonderful mosaic artist and decorator! Brook has collected my art for a while and has some of my best furniture pieces. I posted pics of her charming cottage studio in my august post displaying some of my cottage roses chairs. Her mosaic work is lovely, very feminine and of course lots of pinks! How thrilling it was last night to sit in peace and watch the beginning of Materpiece Theaters 1St presentation of a collection of Jane Austens classics! The first was " Persuasion" I thought that Pride and Prejudice was my all time favorite with Mr. Darcy being my sweetie :) But , so long Mr.Darcy the Captain is in town! Capt. Fredrick Wentworth Oh my he's just so mysterious . This episode was so romantic and very on the edge of your seat exiting! They offer the Dvd's @ 19.99 I think I may purchase this one. I'm so looking forward to the next story on Sunday. Each Sunday for the next 4 mos. tune in for another Jane Austen classic. What a romantic she was. Hello everyone! Long time no post I know :) I have been enjoying a long visit with my family in Sarasota with intentions of bringing my little princess home , but since school had not started in our area I thought she could stay a few more days to her and my parents sheer delight! After some remodeling to my parents home I helped out by cleaning up some full boxes of "stuff". My Mom has the sweetest little cottage style home so I thought i'd post a few picks of it today and a few of what I have been up to in my studio. Instead of spreading out all the glitter and paper crafts now I have beads EVERYWHERE! In my bed, on the floor, stuck to my skin, you name it :) My kitties were even playing with some beads on the tile floor! Well , as long as they are having fun :) My new obsession is making Victorian style chokers and other jewelry in that style. I was so inspired by the Michal Negrin designs thought I would try my hand at it. Heres the link to see a few more picks of the Victorian Collection . Also my sweet friend Natasha sent me the most girly sweet package of lavender scented soaps from Cath Kidston collection! They are so dainty and smell divine :) I found a pretty jar and covered the top with lace and then embellished it with roses so I could display my pretty soaps in my bath! Thank you so much Natasha!! Little Treasures

Here are a few little what not's i made last night, i was running on sweet tea till 2 am :) not a good thing i know.... i especially loved this hanging basket, i glued some old handmade lace ,green velvet, buttons and an old rhinestone earring.... voila! The bottle is from Italy , its so heavy but turned out cute too. The last little item was the round treasure box, covered in glitter art paper, creams with lavender and green velvet. It's so sweet. Well, not much of a post tonight oh my it's morning now! I am a night owl, i seem to come alive at night on into the morning, wait , is that dracula? Oh my i better change my habits, i will have to when my little girl comes back home from her Grammas. Mommy misses you! Shabby Kitty does too! Have a lovely week everyone! Kimberly

A new Romance

I really loved creating these pretty wall art plaques. I first started with the sachets, then tags now the wall art! I'm not sure how many i can sell but they were so much fun to make. Allot of work cutting ,gluing, but it was fun, i have a bunch of ideas for them, maybe a wedding cake, baby plaques, all vintage inspired of course, that makes them unique. I also wanted to do a Marie plaque, that would be lovely, well if they don't sell i will enjoy looking at them! Have an idea for one ? Please let me know I'm so inspired by all of you creative women out there! Oh , i forgot to mention Mr. Gable, Clark to me :) Just love this photo...sigh.....
On another note i was so blown away today when visited my sweet friend Lori's website Katie's Rose Cottage , i have always thought her website was so beautiful how could she possibly top it? Well , take a look, its so gorgeous,romantic, wow i love the new look!

Almost forgot this pretty treasure box, it was so much fun making this....

After a wonderful weekend with my parents visiting they went home Sunday afternoon taking my little girl with them for the holiday break, my little constant companion. I tend to get really sad even when my parents leave, the house suddenly becomes quiet,Husband working,some would think that a good thing but not me. So, to get my mind off things i made some pretty hang / gift tags, i had been wanting to make some for a while. It's so much fun (but a huge mess in my work room awaits cleanup :( )and like my mosaic work it's constant creativity always something new to add,one can never be the same. Vintage style Romance

Here is a sweet Romantic Perfume bottle I embellished, its up here on ebay if you want to see more pics, i love making them, they look so pretty with the box.

This morning i actually woke up because of the bright light coming thru my window, i left the shade up so i wouldnt oversleep, anyway, i put together an order for a customer and decided to set them all on my mantel in our bedroom, so this is what i woke to. I thought how lovely and of course i always have my camera by my side so here are a few pics of my Romantic morning view! I look everywhere for pretty old antique photos, paintings you name it so that we can reproduce them on stretched canvas, one ebayer for instance, was so kind to send me a huge file of the canvas on the right so i could make it 10x14. I think they look so pretty and the sides are printed for the old painting affect, you really dont need a frame for them, they are charming. I really dont know of anyone else doing this , especially on stretched canvas. I'm always thrilled to find a great old painting to reproduce. If any of you out there want to share some photos of your old beauties please send!! I have quite a collection so far. They are the next best thing to having the originals! Have you heard of RATE MY SPACE on HDTV ? This is so much fun, i posted some pics of my bedroom today so take a look!

Careful girls, when you visit this amazing website i stumbled upon.... I just about gasped for air as i viewed incredibly romantic designs by designer Michal Negrin take a look but be sure to have lots of credit on your cards! This designer lives in my mind! I think if i had the resources i would be designing clothes and jewelry in this style, pure romance. I even found tons her her jewelry pieces on eBay, pretty high end. Gorgeous eye candy. I love finding beautiful websites, i only wish there were more pictures of her designs. Her designs inspire more of my sachets made from vintage and antique textiles, i love that look, I'm not sure which blog i was on but one woman dressed up old bottles with lace and rhinestones and wow they were beautiful! 60 Years Young !

This Post tonight is for my beautiful mother who turns 60 tomorrow! She doesn't look a day over 40! I guess our English skin we inherited from my grandmother has alot to do with it! Here is a special lavender cupcake just for you Momma! The card below i made has alot that reminds me of you, the Victorian gingerbread home of course since you Love old homes i can see you living there :) Then the lilacs which remind me of Gramma too and lavender is your favorite color..... then the old post card with the little girl and her Momma that's me & you , then the lace and rhinestones that's you! Vintage is "Sew" Sweet !

I love making lavender filled sachets, its a nice break from painting. Here are two vintage inspired hanging sachets. All prettied up with roses , pearls, antique french lace, ribbons and bark cloth. They smell beautiful. I made these two last night , but I'm off to scour the antique shops nearby to find some vintage embellishments! I'm running out and that's not good :) Have a lovely week ! To Paint or Not to Paint is the question !

Here is the table i have been working on for a while now. I think it came out so pretty. The table is simple but the roses are dramatic! I was unsure of taking a paint brush of pink paint to this old antique drop leaf table but i kept seeing it pink for some reason. I can always see my next treasure all painted, sometimes its white then other times i see pale blue. Often i see a really out of the ordinary color i might not normally use like a bright aqua, i did a chair in that color with lovely roses and it turned out so pretty. I was hesitant to paint the table since it is circa late 1800's and worth allot even unpainted with old dings and scratches. But i just had to do it!Anyway here are a few pics and it will be up this evening on the website. On another note, thank you Barbara J.,Natasha & Lori for your comments this am i was so happy and thrilled to have comments from women i admire so much, your like Royalty ! I'm new at this blog stuff it's thrilling to get comments. It cozies up my blog like a fire cozies up a living room :) Thanks so much! I will be putting up some new decorating pics i have soon so that might be fun too. I love decorating, i get into different moods, i love my bedroom which everyone calls it the Paris Suite :) Its very romantic and when kept up is a pleasant room to look at :) Have a lovely day everyone! Getting Creative !

Here are a few items i have been working on, i pulled myself away from the computer after designing more hang tags ! They came out lovely and look even better with the ribbons. I finally sat down to paint a few things , the bird house i finished earlier this month, it came out so lovely, i love the combination of mosaics and hand painted roses. The box is one of my favorites...... I'm working on a very pretty dropleaf table , and its pink, turning out just so pretty cant wait till its finished. Krafty Kim @ work & a little Play!

I have had alot of fun this weekend creating my new Home page logo. I cant stop!! So i got to work and came up with this pair of beautiful unique candle holder centerpieces. They are so pretty with pearls, ribbons, antique plates, silk roses and much more sparkly eye candy! They are tea cups mounted up high so they dont get lost in the frou frou :) They come with a set of hand painted roses candles with little french gold dot scroll work. I think they will be so romantic for your family gathering. This week i will have more pretties up on the site as i am gearing up to stay off ebay once again, its so hard but i think it will be for the best in the long run, lets hope so. I love creating new graphics, i get better with each try and thought i'd share this new set of hang tags, they are great for collecting or for gift tags. The theme is winter in an old Victorian setting. Gets you in the mood for the colder weather. We are in Florida so it would be nice stoke up the fire place and have a chill come thru! I still havent recieved any requests to be a featured romantic space on my blog! I hope you all will send me some pics soon :) There are so many blogs out there i love and will soon try and figure out how to add my favorite ones to my blog. Antique Oil paintings.....

I have always loved antique oil paintings of Roses since i can remember.....i think it stems from my great grandmothers love of roses,she had everything in her home full of roses,even the wallpaper was huge cabbage roses,my grandmother Madeline loved them as well, she even smelled like roses! I have enjoyed painting roses now for over 7 years, each year they seem to evolve which is a good thing :) I have been collecting1800's -1900's oil paintings and collecting photos of them to reproduce on canvas using the Archival ink process called Giclee` it is a french term meaning " to Spray". I have just started offering my new canvas prints ,stretched with sides painted as well for a true authentic antique look that we shabby romantics love! I have been searching for the most romantic paintings to find these charming beauties from the past. I believe we all should be able to have their charm grace our home. I hope you will enjoy my new collection available to everyone . This collection will continue to grow so i will keep you all posted!

This is ever so beautiful ! My new canvas print taken from my completed "Garland Dreams" I love looking at it! What kind of artist would i be without my own version of a garland painting:) I'm curently taking wholesale orders for it as well as retail. New Studio

This week has been so busy painting , organizing you name it, my husband took off a week from work to help me around the home. We finished my studio office room finally! It came out so lovely so i thought i'd show off my husbands handy work :) He painted it a pale blue and added shelves and chippy iron brackets, it looks fantastic with all my pink roses. I love entering the room it's so me , blues and pinks. The room is also where my daughter will study at her desk and be able to look out the huge window into the back yard of hydrangeas and other pretty plants n trees. So different from a normal classroom! She hasnt seen it yet and will be so exited when she returns home with my parents. My new prints are almost ready , husband is making the antique molding frames as we speak, i'm so exited as they are all printed up and are beautiful! I have a few more hand painted items to add to website tonight and tomorrow to keep an eye out:) Have a rosy evening!

Sweet Roses Of Summer

Wow i cant believe summer is almost over.... i still have so much to do but took some time to gather beautiful pale pink roses, china , lace to create lovely vignettes in soft romantic colors. I love Romantic photography if i didnt paint i'm sure this would be my full time passion. I have added a few of my new canvas prints that will be in great chippy molding frames sooon available on the website." While snow is on the ground this winter for some, my art will bring back fond memories of sweet smelling blush pink roses in the warmth of summer". Welcome to my new Blogg! August 5th . This week has been a busy one indeed. Painting new items for the website then adding them to the site, it's alot of work not to mention all the household duties! We are looking forward to the next issue of Romantic Country magazine as we are advertising with http://www.beautifulshops.com/ Deb is wonderful to work with i cant wait to see the next add, it has truly brought me alot of new traffic to the website and not to mention some wonderful new customers and friends! As some of you know thru my emails i am only offering my hand painted items on my website, this has worked out well this past week, finally to break free from ebay. It has been great so far but to be able to sell on my own website my husband built for me is truly a blessing. My husband has been making wonderful custom bird houses, cabinet doors,frames etc. All beautiful items for me to paint on, i epecially love the bird houses each one inspires a new design with a mosaic roof with hand painted roses on the front. I love working with the cabinet doors also, they are wonderful for my cottage print Tea & sweets. School is about to start here in Florida august 20th but for my daughter school is at home with me for the first year, we will be starting 4th grade together, i think it will be wonderful for her and myself. So this will leave little time for painting , each item will be few and far between to be able to spend time with my daughter Micayla. What a wonderful business i have to be able to stay at home and love my work. I look forward to painting more beautiful roses for everyone to enjoy!
